Credit Internship – Insurance

Fitch Ratings Insurance Group is currently seeking an Intern based out of our Mexico City or Monterrey, Mexico office.

 

The Insurance Group is responsible for assigning and maintaining international/national credit ratings on (re)insurers and their debt issues worldwide. The Group is split in four regions: EMEA, North America, Asia-Pacific and Latin America.  Latin America has coverage in Mexico, Central America, Caribbean and South America and rate over 200+ entities, including reinsurers, life insurers (traditional, unit-link, and pensions) and non-life insurers (property & casualty, and surety & bonds). The Latin America analytical team is based in Monterrey, Mexico City, El Salvador, Colombia, Chile and Brazil.

 

The role will concentrate on supporting analysts in maintaining financial statements updated from public and private information, processes optimization, gather public information focused in the Mexican insurance industry and analyze it to provide insights, elaborate presentations and operational tasks for internal purposes.

We’ll Count on You To:

  • Compiles financial data and quantitative analysis related to insurance sector entities;
  • Updates financial database verifying, and securing data;
  • Reviews and conducts simple analysis of basic financial statements;
  • Processes optimization mainly in excel (macros);
  • Identifying sources of information;
  • File Maintenance;
  • Assists in the documentation of rating committees;
  • Assists in the publication of sector-specific research and insightful commentaries;
  • Participation in credit rating committees for insurance entities;
  • Follow-up other Credit Rating Agency’s actions;
  • Keep up-to-date T-INS database for quarterly dashboard publications;
  • Update peer reports templates for the seven current groups;
  • Quarterly update and load the regulator’s publicly information into our core file in excel;
  • Develop new databases for special reports purposes;
  • Fill-in Financial Data Repository (FDR) templates such as FBM Template following the analysts’ guidance.
  • Plus, other duties as required.

What You Need to Have:

  • The successful candidate will be a student in his/her final years of undergraduate in the fields of actuary, economics, finance, or similar careers with no or little job experience.
  • The candidate must have strong Excel skillset including basic knowledge in VBA programming (macros), analytical skills and detailed-oriented, ability to compile large data sets into summaries, provide written and verbal commentary, ability to meet deadlines, proactive and eager to learn from the insurance industry.
  • English intermediate/advanced.
