Department Overview - Finance

 

The Global Finance, Business Services and Strategy functions is as a global team comprised of approximately 220 staff. We support the Fitch organization in financial planning & analysis, and enterprise-level budgeting, procurement, accounting, financial operations and global strategy. The Chief Financial Officer (“CFO”) is based in New York and is a member of the Fitch Group Executive, reporting to the CEO.

 

 

Department Overview - HR

 

Fitch Group’s Human Resources function comprises approximately 100 staff based in New York, Chicago, Mexico City, Dubai, London, Frankfurt, Hong Kong and Singapore.  We support all Divisions of Fitch Group – responsible for approximately 4400 colleagues. In addition to providing the typical Human Capital Management services to Fitch Group’s lines of business, HR is either directly responsible for or closely engaged in the advancement of Fitch’s goals for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Employee Engagement and Internal Communication, and Workplace Culture.   The Chief Human Resources Officer (“CHRO”) is based in London and is a member of the Fitch Group Executive, reporting to the CEO.

 

 

Role overview

 

Fitch is a regulated knowledge business with a data-driven, highly analytical management culture.  Our Human Capital is both our number one asset and cost, and optimizing our planning and management of Human Capital is critical to driving value and competitive advantage. 

 

Accordingly, our Finance and HR functions have a strong partnership with close cooperation between the Group FP&A and the HR Data and Compensation teams.  We are investing further in our HCM analytical capability by creating a new FP&A role aligned to the HR team.  The role will report to the FP&A Lead, Global Finance and work alongside the MIS and Compensation team in HR. 

 

This is a high-profile role and principal stakeholders include the CFO, CHRO, CEO and the Divisional Presidents.    

 

Key Accountability Areas:

 

The primary purpose of this role is to enhance the level of HCM insight and analysis by blending HR and Financial data, driving improved decision-making in budgeting, forecasting and operational management. 

 

Responsibilities will include:

 

  • Business partnering with senior stakeholders across the HR function and the organization.
  • Developing high-quality HCM and market trend analysis to support HR and business leaders.
  • Supporting strategic planning and operational decision-making by providing financial modelling and sensitivity analysis based on different scenarios.
  • Supporting the annual budget, regular forecast, and compensation processes and strategic planning processes.
  • Collaborating with Finance Operations, business unit FP&A and other functions to drive reporting improvements.
  • Working with Business, HR and FP&A teams to manage all positions, including the reconciliation and management of budgeted headcount, open positions, and actively recruited roles.

 

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

 

  • Education to undergraduate degree level, preferably in a finance, mathematical, engineering, science or business subject.
  • 5+ years’ experience in a similar role, with a preference for expertise in Human Capital Management (HCM) analysis.
  • Solid understanding of accounting concepts with a focus on compensation accounting.
  • Advanced Excel modelling expertise and familiarity with SAP BPC or equivalent financial reporting tools.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Capable of building strong, cross-functional and collaborative relationships with senior stakeholders with a proven track record of providing analytical insights.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to work effectively and deliver under deadline pressure.
  • Experience with QlikView or other data visualisation applications.
  • Self-motivated and able to work under limited supervision.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise a high level of discretion.
