Associate Director – Ratings Business Analytics – Data (Manchester)
Fitch Ratings is currently seeking an Associate Director based out of the Manchester office.
The Ratings Business Analytics team provides high-quality, in-depth strategic analysis to drive better outcomes for Fitch Ratings. The team works closely with the Ratings Operations heads on business transformation initiatives, including developing business cases, evaluating cost/benefits for new initiatives, and reviewing and making recommendations on process re-engineering.

We’ll Count on You To:
- Serve as a key point person within the team for acquiring and analyzing data from a range of internal databases and external sources to lead and support the team in building clear insights on Fitch’s business performance and competitive positioning.
- Support the development of senior-level presentations that summarize and present key findings, identify trends, and business strategies that inform or enable high-level decision-making on operations, strategy, and business change initiatives.
- Own aspects of monthly management reporting for senior management (i.e. operational metrics, productivity reporting, etc.) using tools such as MS Excel, Alteryx, Power BI and QlikView
- Focus on automation and efficiency in producing regular reporting / analysis, leveraging Alteryx where possible
- Respond to ad-hoc data requests from stakeholders while demonstrating a solid understanding of the underlying data, and how to interpret it
What You Need to Have:
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in business, economics, or similar analytical fields. Backgrounds in Data or Computer Science would also be considered.
- 4+ years of experience involving data analysis, ideally related to credit rating agencies, financial information, or the debt capital markets.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Alteryx.
- Intermediate knowledge of SQL (ability to read, write and debug SQL queries), Excel and PowerPoint
- Knowledge and experience with alternative mainstream analytical and data visualization tools such as Qlikview/QlikSense and Power BI.
- Capacity for independent, critical thinking and problem solving.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to work with multiple large datasets to mine and analyse varying types of data to draw out appropriate insights
- Willingness to learn new programs and tools related to data
- Ability to multi-task effectively and prioritize different assignments whilst maintaining accuracy and adhering to tight deadlines.
- Experience in collaborating with colleagues and key stakeholders to understand and interpret key business requirements
What Would Make You Stand Out:
- Previously attained Alteryx certifications
- Basic knowledge of VBA and/or Python
- Prior Credit Ratings experience or knowledge
