International Public Finance at Fitch Ratings Mexico is currently seeking an Intern based out of our Monterrey office.
The International Public Finance Group (IPF) is responsible for assigning and maintaining international credit ratings on public entities and their debt issues worldwide. The Group is split into three areas: APAC, EMEA and Latin America. In Latin America, the Group currently maintains more than 600 public ratings (and a number of private ratings) on local and regional governments, debt issues and government related entities, including public entities in sectors such as water, higher education, specialized financial vehicles, health care and public transportation as well as any entity that has a public policy mission. In Latin America, the IPF analytical team is based in Monterrey, Mexico City, Bogota and Sao Paulo and consists of 20+ analysts.
The role will concentrate on supporting analysts who are focused on local and regional governments and public entities, primarily in Mexico. The intern will report to one of the most experienced Directors based in Monterrey.

We’ll Count on You To:
Give support to the following tasks:
- Data analysis related to public sector entities, local governments sector and individual issuers.
- Preparation of rating committee documentation.
- Publication of sector-specific research and insightful commentaries.
- Participation in credit rating committees for local governments and public entities.
- Gather public information and analyze it to provide insights.
What You Need to Have:
- The successful candidate will be a student in his/her final years of undergraduate in the fields of economics, financial studies, public or administration, accounting or similar career with no or little experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Strong analytical and data analysis skills.
- Good wording skills.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines with a high degree of accuracy.
- English language proficiency at an intermediate/advanced level.
