Senior Research Associate

 

Fitch Group Strategy is currently seeking a Senior Research Associate based out of our New York City office.

Reporting to the Fitch Group CFO, Group Strategy provides strategic advice and support to the businesses within the Fitch Group. Using a data-driven approach, we are also responsible for analysing the success of strategic initiatives around the firm and supporting M&A activity. Projects are varied and change according to the needs of the business, as directed by the senior leadership team.

We’ll Count on You To:

  • Compile and analyse data and research from internal and external sources. Work with senior team members to build clear insights on Fitch’s business performance and competitive positioning.
  • Clean and analyse large data sets and perform quality checks.
  • Assist senior team members with the development of (and analysis for) business cases and presentations that communicate key findings related to strategy, tactics and change initiatives in a compelling way.
  • Work alongside technical colleagues and assist with the development of BI tools through coordination of internal contributors/stakeholders, gathering and interpreting business requirements into reporting deliverables and performing quality checks and impact analysis on large data sets.
  • Provide user support for a suite of business intelligence dashboards.
  • Own aspects of monthly and quarterly reporting for senior management.

 

What You Need to Have:

  • Good analytical and critical thinking skills, with experience in analysing data sets, organizing results effectively and proposing solutions.
  • Experience in building business cases / presentations that identify important trends and deliver data-driven insights.
  • Strong data visualisation skills, mainly using PowerPoint although knowledge of other data visualisation tools beneficial.
  • Clear and concise written / verbal communication skills; able to present a compelling story using data and quantitative metrics, and confidently deliver it to stakeholders.
  • Advanced Excel skills required and proficiency with PowerPoint and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to remain organized and multi-task.
  • Eagerness to learn, solve problems, and collaborate.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in business, economics, or similar analytical field.

 

What Would Make You Stand Out:

  • 1-3 years of professional experience ideally related to financial services, credit rating agencies, or the debt capital markets; Consulting experience a plus.
  • Experience working with business intelligence tools such as QlikView, Alteryx, Tableau, Power BI beneficial.

FOR NEW YORK ROLES ONLY: Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $84,000 and $90,000. Actual salaries will be determined on an individualized basis and may vary based on factors including but not limited to education, training, experience, past performance, and other job-related factors.  Base pay is one part of Fitch’s total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, long-term incentives, and other benefits sponsored by Fitch.
