Fitch Ratings is seeking an Analyst for coverage of the Consumer&Retail sector based out of Mexico City or Monterrey office.

Qualitative credentials will weigh meaningfully in the selection of the candidate. A healthy sense of intellectual curiosity is critical, along with a willingness and ability to attack and explain topics of analytical complexity. Fitch is a tem- oriented work enviroment, so excellent communication skills are essential, as a high productivity work-ethic and results oriented mindset.

We’ll Count on You To:

•    Perform data analysis of key quantitative and qualitative factors influencing the LATAM Consumer & Retail team, in support of existing ratings, new rating mandates and research publications for the team.
•    Perform quantitative analysis including comprehensive financial statement forecasting and comparable analysis.
•    Perform qualitative analysis focused on factors such as business models, competitive strengths, management strategy, industry analysis and regulatory considerations.
•    Assist in maintaining Fitch’s financial databases.
•    Support lead analysts prepare presentations for credit rating committees.
•    Occasionally collaborate with senior team members to publish research on LATAM Corporates topics or presentations for Fitch’s external audience.
•    Participate in the evaluation of credits within the Retail & Consumer team, including presenting analysis and opinion recommendations to credit committees.
•    Participate in meetings with Consumer & Retail industry executive-level management teams to strengthen understanding of their business and industry.

 

What You Need to Have:

•    1-2 years of relevant experience;
•    Bachelor's degree at minimum;
•    Advanced English proficiency (verbal and written);
•    Exposure to financial statement analysis in a work or classroom setting;
•    Strong understanding of Excel and Word;
•    Strong analytical, quantitative, and organizational skills;
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills; 
•    Ability to shift fluidly between multiple projects as priorities change; 
•    Ability to excel in a team-oriented environment;
•    CFA candidate preferred, CFA/CPA a plus.

•    Wants to deepen their exposure to and understanding of the debt capital markets;
•    Has exposure to financial statement analysis in a work or classroom setting;
•    Has solid interpersonal skills displayed by a strong pattern of leadership and the ability to interact with various stakeholders proactively and successfully across a variety of departments within the organization
•    Has some knowledge and/or a keen interest in the Consumer, Food & Beverage, Agriculture, Protein and Retail sectors;
•    Enjoys critical thinking, including developing and sharing well-reasoned opinions.
