About the Team

 

The Team Lead is responsible for end-to-end leadership and delivery management for the Mumbai Advisory analyst team of three members, ensuring high-quality output across projects while fostering a strong team culture, driving performance, and supporting skills development. This hands-on role covers project delivery, planning, prioritization, recruitment, performance management, resourcing, and coaching, and plays a key part in embedding consistent ways of working, quality standards, team upskilling, and client-centricity. The position requires close collaboration with the Senior SME (technical authority), Advisory BD team, HR, L&D, and Talent Acquisition to align on technical standards, methodology, and overall team success.

 

How You’ll Make an Impact: 

 

Team Leadership and Culture 

  • Own the leadership and day-to-day management of the Mumbai analyst team, creating a positive, inclusive, and high-performance culture aligned to BMI/Fitch Solutions values.

Performance Management and People Development

  • Set and track objectives and KPIs for analysts aligned to team and business goals; conduct regular one-to-ones. 
  • Build individual development plans focused on technical, analytical, and consulting skills; track progress and adjust plans as needed. 
  • Identify skills gaps and implement a structured training and coaching agenda; coordinate with L&D to leverage formal programmes. 
  • Manage underperformance fairly and promptly; recognise and reward high performance. 
  • Mentor, develop talent pipelines and maintain succession plans, including for senior subject matter experts. 

 

Project and Client Management 

  • Role model excellence by personally executing on projects and engagements to the highest standard. 
  • Deliver impactful client presentations. 
  • Own the intake, prioritisation, and resourcing of work across your team; balance short-term deadlines with overlapping project timelines with strategic initiatives. 
  • Build and maintain delivery plans, milestones, and capacity models; escalate risk to timelines/quality early with data-driven options. 
  • Conduct structured quality assurance reviews of deliverables; ensure outputs meet methodological and editorial standards and are client-ready. 
  • Partner with the SME on scoping complex work, defining analytical frameworks, and ensuring methodological consistency. 
  • Bring a commercial mindset to client engagements, proactively identify opportunities for additional work.  

 

Thought Leadership and Innovation  

  • Develop your own subject matter expertise within the practice. 
  • Manage own and the team’s development to create strong talent profiles and succession plans. 
  • Create thought leadership content (whitepapers, webinars, by attending events) to develop both your personal and the organisation’s brand. 
  • Stay abreast with market developments and trends to support the development of the Risk Advisory offer and thought leadership. 
  • Provide innovation, by identifying and piloting new methodologies and technologies. 
  • Ensure that your own and the team’s domain expertise is continuously developing. 
  • To manage your own development as the second most experienced team member, towards the level of the senior SME. 
  • Design solutions based on client requirements, with limited support. 

 

Stakeholder, Client and Commercial Partnership 

  • Act as primary operational point of contact for internal stakeholders and project sponsors; provide clear status updates, issue management, and expectations setting. 
  • Support pre-sales scoping and level-of-effort estimates; align resources to commercial priorities. 
  • Support with solution design for proposals. 
  • Join client meetings as a subject matter expert to support pitches. 
  • Gather feedback from clients and stakeholders; translate insights into continuous improvements to process, tools, and training. 
  • Facilitate your own and the team’s ongoing knowledge sharing and learning with stakeholders e.g. local SMEs and following all projects. 
  • Support the Advisory’s teams go to market efforts by supporting with project ideation and case study production. 
  • To be the champion of Advisory in interactions with the wider BMI and Fitch Solutions teams. 
  • Maintain awareness of regulatory developments and trends, both in terms of their influence on Risk Advisory’s work, and to spot opportunities for future value add. 

 

Collaboration with the SME 

  • Coordinate closely with the Senior Subject Matter Expert, who owns methodological authority and advanced analytics. 
  • Convert SME guidance into practical workflows, templates, and training for the team. 
  • Ensure effective separation of responsibilities: SME leads technical depth; Team Lead owns people leadership, delivery discipline, and team capability uplift. 

 

Process, Governance, and Continuous Improvement 

  • Own and embed standard operating procedures for research, modelling, QA, and documentation. 
  • Track and report on key team metrics (throughput, cycle time, utilisation, quality scores, rework rates, stakeholder satisfaction). 
  • Drive continuous improvement using retrospectives and root-cause analysis; implement automation and knowledge management where feasible. 
  • Ensure compliance with policies, data security, and editorial standards. 
  • Lead a diverse and inclusive team environment, applying Fitch Solution’s DEI policies and guidelines to your work. 

 

Resource Planning and Hiring 

  • Forecast capacity and skills needs; create hiring briefs and partner with HR Talent Acquisition. 
  • Lead onboarding for new joiners and ensure structured ramp-up with clear success metrics. 

 

KPIs and Measures of Success 

  • Delivery: On-time, in-scope delivery rate; reduction in rework and cycle time. 
  • Quality: QA pass rate; stakeholder/client satisfaction scores; adherence to methodology. 
  • People: Engagement scores; retention of high performers; completion of development plans; closure of skills gaps. 
  • Efficiency: Utilisation and capacity accuracy; improved throughput; adoption of SOPs and knowledge assets. 
  • Innovation and thought leadership: Development as a subject matter expert, innovations deployed by the team. 
  • Commercial partnership: Contribute with solution designs, sales meetings attended and impact. 

 

You May be a Good Fit if:

  • 7+ years of experience in credit risk analytics, risk advisory, or related consulting roles. 
  • 2+ years of experience of team leadership including recruitment, coaching, objective setting and performance management,  
  • Demonstrated team leadership or coaching experience; ability to set goals, give feedback, and manage performance. 
  • Strong project and delivery management skills: scoping, planning, prioritisation, and risk management. 
  • Excellent communication skills: clear written outputs, concise updates, excellent client delivery skills, facilitation of meetings and feedback sessions. 
  • Working knowledge of credit risk concepts and the ability to create new solutions (e.g., counterparty/sovereign/corporate risk, credit models, rating frameworks) 
  • Proficiency with MS Office/365; familiarity with collaboration tools (e.g., SharePoint, Teams, Jira/Trello or equivalent), strong command of Python and basic data analysis tools Excel/Power BI.
