About the Team:

Fitch Ratings is currently seeking a Senior Software Engineer specializing in Appian Applications to join our team in New York. In this role, you will support the development and delivery of applications based on Java and Appian. You will collaborate with dynamic teams committed to maintaining high standards of quality, performance, and scalability for Fitch’s Ratings workflow systems. How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Work on technically complex systems with strong hands-on experience in design and development.
  • Interpret complex requirements associated with Ratings workflow tools.
  • Support the development of full-stack applications using Appian and Java.
  • Assist in the architecture, design, and development of applications to ensure robustness, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Interpret complex requirements associated with analytical tools.
  • Set up CI/CD pipelines for projects and integrate them with the organization's delivery mechanisms.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless delivery of software solutions.
  • Contribute to the software engineering functional area by adhering to established tools, technologies, standards, and ways of working.
  • Participate in Agile development processes to deliver high-quality software solutions.
  • Assist in managing multiple projects to ensure timely delivery within scope and timelines.
  • Provide production support and help establish technical best practices.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of software pipelines, product lifecycles, and vendor service levels, while identifying new business needs with key stakeholders during quarterly

You May be a Good Fit if:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience in software engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of Appian and Java, along with related technologies.
  • Strong background in relational database design.
  • Understanding of software development principles and practices.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, self-starter mentality, and attention to detail.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes/EKS-based container orchestration).

FOR NEW YORK ROLES ONLY: Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $125,000 and $140,000 per year. Actual salaries will be determined on an individualized basis and may vary based on factors including but not limited to education, training, experience, past performance, and other job-related factors.  Base pay is one part of Fitch’s total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, long-term incentives, and other benefits sponsored by Fitch.
