Fitch Ratings is seeking a Managing Director to join its Asset-Backed Securities group, leading the Corporate (Esoteric) Assets coverage.

This position represents a critical leadership role within the North American ABS team, with direct responsibility for analytical and market strategy across multiple esoteric sectors with a corporate analytical focus, including: Oil & Gas Proved Developed Producing (PDP) reserves, Digital Infrastructure (Fiber Networks and Wireless Towers), Credit-Linked Notes (CLNs), and Future Flow transactions. The Managing Director will also lead a specialized team focused on asset-based funding research and development, driving innovation in analytical frameworks and expanding Fitch's presence in emerging asset classes.

 

The role demands both senior strategic leadership and hands-on credit engagement as we scale the team across these rapidly expanding sectors. The ideal candidate brings a unique blend of deep corporate credit expertise and structured finance/ABS market experience, essential for evaluating the underlying asset fundamentals while applying securitization frameworks to complex esoteric structures. As a recognized thought leader with an established market presence in corporate esoteric ABS, the Managing Director will represent Fitch externally at the highest levels while actively participating in rating analysis and criteria development. This unique combination of corporate finance acumen, structured finance expertise, leadership capabilities, and hands-on analytical engagement is essential as we establish market-leading positions in sectors that are experiencing significant growth and structural evolution.

We'll Count on You To:

  • Lead the Team and Market Strategy: Have direct managerial and business leadership responsibility for a team of analysts and directors covering esoteric corporate ABS transactions across Oil & Gas PDP, Digital Infrastructure (Fiber and Wireless Towers), CLNs, Future Flow, and emerging asset-based funding structures. Drive the strategic development of Fitch's esoteric corporate ABS business and internal talent expansion.
  • Provide Credit and Analytical Leadership: Provide sector expertise across multiple esoteric ABS asset classes, ensuring consistent application of Fitch's criteria and methodologies while championing the development of new analytical frameworks for emerging structures. Oversee rating analysis, surveillance, and monitoring activities, leading rating committees and ensuring quality, consistency, and timeliness of rating actions and analytical outputs.
  • Represent Fitch Externally: Articulate Fitch's credit views, sector outlooks, and structural perspectives in management review meetings, investor conference calls, issuer presentations, and industry roundtables in a credible, engaging, and authoritative manner. Author and oversee high-impact sector research and thought leadership publications that position you as an industry authority.
  • Develop Talent and Foster Collaboration: Develop and mentor a high-performing team of analytical talent, creating a positive, collaborative work environment that prioritizes professional development, analytical excellence, and alignment with Fitch's strategic goals. Establish and maintain highly effective networks with key external constituencies.

You May be a Good Fit if:

  • Established Market Leader: You have substantial relevant experience (12-15+ years) in structured finance and specifically in Oil & Gas PDP, Digital Infrastructure, CLNs, Future Flow, and/or similar specialized asset classes. You are an established and recognized thought leader in esoteric ABS markets with a strong existing market presence among issuers, investors, and industry participants.
  • Proven People Leader: You have demonstrated experience managing and developing high-performing analytical teams, with proven ability to inspire, mentor, and drive team performance. You possess superior communication skills and experience building trust and respect in internal and external relationships.
  • Strategic and Analytical Expert: You have deep understanding of corporate finance fundamentals, structured finance mechanics, securitization principles, and cashflow modeling across diverse asset types. You demonstrate ability to lead criteria development, evaluate credit and structural elements of complex transactions, and drive innovation in analytical approaches.

 

What Would Make You Stand Out:

  • Direct experience in leadership roles at a rating agency, investment bank, institutional investor focused across these asset classes
  • Proven ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on management, demonstrating willingness to actively participate in detailed analytical work, rating committees, and transaction reviews as the team scales and builds depth across rapidly expanding esoteric ABS sectors
  • CFA charter holder or other relevant professional designations; advanced degree in finance, economics, engineering, or related field
  • Strong relationships and credibility with key market participants including major issuers, bankers, institutional investors, and industry associations

FOR NEW YORK ROLES ONLY: Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $275,000 and $310,000 per year. Actual salaries will be determined on an individualized basis and may vary based on factors including but not limited to education, training, experience, past performance, and other job-related factors.  Base pay is one part of Fitch’s total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, long-term incentives, and other benefits sponsored by Fitch.
