Fitch Ratings is currently seeking a Business Analyst, Associate Director, based out of our Toronto, Canada office.

 

About the Team: 

You will join the Technology & Data Delivery Enablement organization, serving as a squad-facing Business Analyst who translates business needs into clear, testable requirements that drive measurable outcomes. You will partner closely with Product Owners, Delivery Owners, Technical Owners, Engineering, Data, and business sponsors to align technology solutions with business strategy, support predictable, high-quality delivery, and advance our ways of working. As a senior practitioner, you will contribute to the Agile Delivery Center of Excellence and our Communities of Practice through standards development, mentorship, and best-practice sharing.

 

How You’ll Make an Impact: 

Business and Technology Alignment 

• Engage directly with business stakeholders and end users to elicit, validate, and refine requirements.

 • Translate business objectives into clear, testable requirements that enable measurable outcomes.

 • Partner with Product Owners to ensure requirements are value-focused and aligned to stakeholder needs.

• Drive business value realization by linking requirements to KPIs and outcome measures.

 

Requirements Management and Delivery Partnership

• Collaborate with Delivery Owners and technical teams on story creation, backlog refinement, sequencing, and sprint planning.

 • Ensure requirements are delivery-ready and support continuous flow; surface risks early with actionable mitigations.

• Uphold standards for requirements quality; hold self and others accountable for clarity and testability.

• Champion continuous improvement in requirements practices and artifacts.

 

Education, Collaboration, and AI Enablement 

Educate squad members on business goals, user value, and desired outcomes.

 • Drive adoption of AI-enabled practices to accelerate requirements elicitation, validation, and documentation.

• Identify and pilot AI capabilities; share learnings with the Agile Delivery Center of Excellence.

• Mentor Business Analysts on responsible AI use; help establish standards for AI-assisted analysis.

 

Technical Insight and Documentation 

• Provide estimation inputs and highlight risks related to requirements clarity and technical feasibility.

• Perform data profiling to validate requirements; document data flows and dependencies.

• Partner with Engineering and Data teams on non-functional requirements and acceptance criteria.

 • Maintain comprehensive, current documentation in Jira/Confluence that enables effective delivery.

 

Operating Model and Enablement

 • Facilitate complex requirements workshops; manage traceability across epics, features, and stories.

• Keep roadmaps, backlogs, and dependencies synchronized and actionable from a requirements perspective.

• Provide executive-ready updates on requirements status, risks, and cross-squad dependencies.

• Model accountability by owning requirements outcomes and communicating status and risks transparently.

 

Continuous Improvement and Leadership

• Coach squad members on flow, predictability, and metrics related to requirements throughput and quality.

• Foster a culture of experimentation, feedback, and continuous improvement.

• Mentor Business Analysts; may provide work direction within the tribe and support career development.

 

Center of Excellence Contribution

• Contribute to the Agile Delivery Center of Excellence and Communities of Practice.

• Develop and socialize standards, playbooks, and best practices for requirements management.

• Lead capability-building initiatives and share innovations across the organization.

 

You May Be a Good Fit If:

• You hold a bachelor’s degree in business, Technology, or a related field, or have equivalent experience.

• You have 6–8 years of business analysis experience with a strong track record in Agile environments.

• You hold relevant certifications (e.g., PMI-ACP, CBAP, CCBA, PMI-ACP, CSM) or equivalents.

• You have demonstrated experience translating complex business needs into clear, testable technical requirements and delivering measurable outcomes.

• You bring strong stakeholder management, facilitation, and executive communication skills.

• You are proficient with data analysis and requirements documentation tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence; SQL exposure a plus).

 

What Would Make You Stand Out:

• Multiple complementary certifications (e.g., CBAP plus Agile certifications).

• Hands-on experience with generative and agentic AI as well as AI-enabled requirements tools and practices.

 • Background in establishing requirements standards, playbooks, or leading Communities of Practice.

• SQL or deeper data analysis expertise.

• Experience in financial services or other regulated industries.

For Toronto roles only: Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $90,000 CAD and $130,000 CAD per year. Actual salaries will be determined on an individualized basis and may vary based on factors including but not limited to education, training, experience, past performance, and other job-related factors. Base pay is one part of Fitch’s total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, long-term incentives, and other benefits sponsored by Fitch.
