Fitch Group is currently seeking a Finance and Business Support Manager in our Colombo office.  

 

This role is responsible for finance and accounting, alongside local office, HR and operational support for a small office of approximately 10 employees. The role works closely with regional Finance and Operations teams to ensure the office operates in line with global standards.

 

You will act as a key liaison to central functions including Finance, HR, IT, Compliance, Legal and Facilities.

Colombo office has a mixture of analytical, business development and operational staff.  This role offers the opportunity to lead local finance activities while supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the office with regional exposure.

We’ll Count on You To:

Finance

  • Partner closely with the regional Finance team and support the progressive build of local accounting capability, including future system setup and migration
  • Manage end-to-end finance operations, including accounts payable, receivable, invoicing, expense processing and payroll coordination
  • Ensure timely and accurate month-end close, management reporting and Group reporting
  • Coordinate monthly payroll, employee data updates, and statutory EPF/ETF filings and registration.
  • Oversee cash management, bank transactions and treasury activities
  • Support budgeting, forecasting and cost control (Opex/Capex)
  • Coordinate tax filings, statutory compliance and audits with external advisors
  • Maintain financial records including fixed assets and supporting schedules
  • Support board documentation and shareholder reporting where required
  • Partner with business teams to ensure accuracy of financial data and documentation

 

Office Management

  • Ensure smooth day-to-day office operations, vendor management and procurement
  • Act as the primary point of contact for facilities, building management and service providers
  • Oversee office setup, maintenance, and compliance, including health & safety and business continuity
  • Support cost management and vendor negotiations, identifying opportunities for efficiency
  • Coordinate health & safety, security and business continuity (BCP) requirements
  • Support office events, senior management visits and local coordination matters

 

HR Support

  • Act as the local contact for HR coordination and employee support
  • Support onboarding, offboarding, recruitment coordination and employee queries
  • Coordinate payroll inputs, benefits administration and documentation
  • Maintain accurate and compliant employee records and documentation
  • Stay informed of local labour regulations and coordinate with HR on updates
  • Provide support for employee lifecycle matters, including sensitive cases where required

 

 

IT & Local Coordination

  • Act as the local point of contact to ensure IT systems operate smoothly and support is provided to the office
  • Coordinate with IT teams and vendors on system access, issue resolution and infrastructure support
  • Support IT asset management, inventory and equipment setup for employees

 

Hours of Work

  • 8.30am to 5.00pm (Monday to Friday), plus flexibility required to meet business needs

 

What You Need to Have:

  • Degree holder in accounting or related discipline, or equivalent qualification and work experience
  • 5–7 years of relevant experience, ideally within a multinational or small-office environment
  • Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals and local statutory requirements
  • Hands-on and comfortable working in a lean, multi-functional role
  • Fluent English is essential, including strong grammar and writing skills.
  • Strong organisational and stakeholder management skills
  • Able to work under pressure and manage competing priorities.
  • Pro-active with good problem-solving skills
  • Discrete and methodical working style

 

What Would Make You Stand Out:

  • Experience in a standalone or country-level finance role
  • Exposure to setting up or transitioning accounting processes
  • Familiarity with HR systems (e.g. SuccessFactors) and payroll coordination
