Associate Director – Corporates, Infrastructure and Project Finance Ratings - Mexico

 

The Fitch Ratings Corporates, Infrastructure and Project Finance group is currently seeking an Associate Director for coverage of the Industrials sector based out of our Mexico City or Monterrey office.

 

Qualitative credentials will weigh meaningfully in the selection of the candidate. A healthy sense of intellectual curiosity is critical, along with a willingness and ability to attack and explain topics of analytical complexity. Fitch is a team-oriented work environment, so excellent communication skills are essential, as is a high productivity work-ethic and results oriented mindset.

We’ll Count on You To:

  • Perform analysis of key quantitative and qualitative factors influencing the credit quality of companies in the LATAM Industrials team.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive financial models.
  • Present analysis of companies to internal credit rating committees.
  • Conduct meetings with LATAM Industrials management teams in different sectors.
  • Involvement in communicating rating rationale to external audiences (primarily institutional investors, sell-side analysts and media) in meetings, conference calls, press releases and written research reports.
  • Write timely and effective research on topical issues.
  • Participate in the evaluation of other credits within the Industrial team, as well as other related credit groups.
  • Represent Fitch in panel discussions and conferences arranged by industry associations, regulatory bodies etc.
  • Mentor junior members of the LATAM Industrials team.
  • Participate in meetings with Industrials executive-level management teams to strengthen understanding of their business and industry.

 

What You Need to Have:

  • Bachelor's degree at minimum, MBA or other advanced degree a plus;
  • 5+ years of relevant experience, which must include some coverage or knowledge of the Industrials sector;
  • Capital markets and/or credit analysis experience a plus;
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and organizational skills;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to shift fluidly between multiple projects as priorities change;
  • Ability to excel in a team-oriented environment;
  • Advanced English proficiency (verbal and written);
  • Native Spanish speaker or advanced Spanish proficiency (verbal and written);
  • Expertise in Excel and Word;
  • CFA candidate preferred, CFA/CPA a plus.

  • A deep understanding of and a keen interest in the Automotive, Building Materials and Products, Diversified Manufacturing and Chemical sectors;
  • A professional background in capital markets and/or credit analysis and well-developed financial statement analysis and modeling skills;
  • A strong pattern of leadership and the ability to proactively and successfully interact with various stakeholders, both within and outside of the organization.
