Fitch Group is currently seeking a Senior Associate Director, SOX Compliance based out of our New York office.

About the Team:

The SOX Compliance team operates as a strategic partner within the Finance Department, serving as the center of excellence for internal controls and compliance. We're a small, hands-on team with significant visibility and impact across the organization—backed by the resources and reach that come with a global enterprise.
We're responsible for all aspects of the SOX program including risk assessment, control design, documentation, and remediation, while collaborating closely with our Parent company's Internal Audit team on testing activities. As we continue evolving our control environment to meet the demands of our growing global footprint, this role offers the opportunity to play a key role in advancing our SOX program and build lasting relationships with business leaders worldwide.
Reporting to the Head of SOX, Consolidation and Financial Reporting, this role will serve as a hands-on subject matter expert, executing core program activities, and partnering with Finance, IT, and business stakeholders to drive a strong and sustainable internal control environment. This is your chance to make a meaningful impact and accelerate your SOX career while developing deep expertise across a complex, international organization.

How You’ll Make an Impact:

  • Execute day-to-day SOX program activities, including maintaining and enhancing process narratives, risk and control matrices, and flowcharts.
  • Assess business processes to identify risks, evaluate control design, and recommend practical, scalable control improvements.
  • Document and evaluate processes across multiple functions to identify control gaps and support risk assessment activities.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to facilitate walkthroughs, manage information requests, track action items, and support timely completion of testing requirements with internal audit and external auditors.
  • Partner with global process owners by providing guidance on control execution, responding to questions, and helping strengthen control awareness across the organization.
  • Monitor remediation activities by tracking open issues, following up on action plans, maintaining status reports, and escalating delays or concerns as needed.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to streamline documentation, enhance controls, and improve SOX processes based on audit findings and business feedback.
  • Manage multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment while maintaining organization, responsiveness, and high-quality deliverables.

You May Be a Good Fit If:

  • You have a bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • You have 5–7 years of relevant experience in SOX compliance, internal audit, or public accounting, preferably within financial services.
  • You have a solid understanding of SOX requirements, the COSO framework, and internal control concepts, with the ability to apply them in a practical business environment.
  • You have strong documentation and analytical skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
  • You are able to communicate control concepts clearly to non-technical audiences and build effective working relationships across the organization.
  • You are self-motivated, organized, and able to manage competing priorities while delivering quality work under tight deadlines.
  • You are a collaborative team player who is comfortable asking questions, seeking guidance when needed, and contributing to a hands-on team environment.

What Would Make You Stand Out:

  • CPA certification, or progress toward CPA certification.
  • A combination of Big 4 public accounting experience and SOX audit exposure.
  • Experience documenting IT General Controls (ITGCs) and application controls in complex technology environments.
  • Prior experience working with global teams and cross-border stakeholders.
