Software Engineer, Full Stack

Fitch Group is currently seeking a Software Engineer, Full Stack based out of our New York office.

Fitch Group Technology has a number of agile teams that deliver world-class innovative solutions to Fitch Group internal and external customers. This position will be within one of our agile teams delivering software products for our BMI business.

What We Offer:

In this position, you will have the opportunity to be a part of an exceptionally talented, bright and driven team, and apply your skills in novel ways. And you will have fun doing it! Our technology stack is modern - cloud based, containerized, serverless and microservices oriented. You will play a key role in implementing tools and processes that aim to improve the quality of our end-to-end code while creating a more efficient and sustainable workflow for our customers. You will work in a hybrid (in-office / Work from Home) arrangement, in a collaborative and supportive work environment where your ideas and contributions are valued with a focus on achievable improvements that get used every day.

How You'll Make an Impact

  • Ship features faster by taking ownership of well-scoped tickets, freeing senior engineers to focus on complex architectural work
  • Improve code quality by adding test coverage to under-tested areas of the codebase and catching regressions early
  • Strengthen the team by bringing fresh perspectives, asking the questions that reveal hidden assumptions, and documenting tribal knowledge as you learn it
  • Reduce on-call burden by helping triage bugs, writing better error logging, and tackling small fixes that have been on the backlog
  • Grow into a trusted contributor whose code can be merged with confidence, expanding the team's overall capacity within your first year.
  • Work as a part of an agile team in design, development and deployment of enterprise-scale web applications.
  • Develop Java micro-services to support the frontend.

What You Need to Have:

  • 1+ years of professional Java experience (internships, or strong personal projects count)
  • Familiarity with Spring or Spring Boot, REST APIs, and SQL databases
  • Working knowledge of Git and collaborative development workflows
  • Exposure to Python, Langchain, MCP
  • Exposure to AWS, Docker, or Kubernetes/ECS
  • Experience with testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito)
  • 1-year hands-on experience with AWS data services (Lambda, S3, Opensearch)
  • 1-year hands on experience with Reactjs/Nextjs
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent practical experience
