Senior Director, Latin American Corporates, Infrastructure & Project Finance (CIPF) – Energy, Power & Utilities
Location: São Paulo or Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
We will Count on You To:
- Lead coverage of a portfolio across the Energy, Power & Utilities sectors in Latin America, with a particular focus on Brazil.
- Have direct managerial responsibility for analysts within the team, providing leadership, coaching, and development support while fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Oversee the analysis of key quantitative and qualitative factors influencing credit quality across corporates and project finance entities in the sector.
- Supervise the maintenance, and review of detailed financial models and credit analyses used to support rating recommendations.
- Chair and participate actively in internal rating committees, presenting clear and well-supported rating recommendations for both international and national scale ratings, where applicable.
- Serve as a senior point of contact for external market participants, including issuers, investors, bankers, advisors, and other stakeholders in the rating process.
- Articulate Fitch’s credit views, rating rationales, and sector outlook in a clear, engaging, and commercially aware manner through meetings, conference calls, written commentary, and published research.
- Contribute to the strategic direction and visibility of Fitch’s Latin America CIPF franchise, including representing Fitch in conferences, industry forums, and client events.
- Support the management of the regional portfolio across multiple regulatory environments, ensuring high analytical standards, consistency, and timeliness in rating actions and research output.
- Partner closely with colleagues across sectors, countries, and analytical groups to advance the One CIPF approach and strengthen Fitch’s market presence across Latin America.
- Write and oversee timely, insightful research on sector trends, market developments, and topical credit issues affecting the Energy, Power & Utilities space.
- Mentor and develop junior team members, helping to build analytical depth and succession within the franchise.
What You Need to Have:
- 10+ years of relevant experience in credit analysis, project finance, capital markets, corporate or investment banking, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of the Energy, Power & Utilities sectors, ideally including exposure to regulated utilities, power generation, transmission, renewables, and/or midstream or energy infrastructure assets.
- Demonstrated experience managing people and/or leading teams in an analytical environment.
- Solid understanding of financial statement analysis, credit fundamentals, and debt capital structures.
- Proven ability to assess and explain analytically complex topics with sound judgment and intellectual rigor.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Fluency in English and Portuguese required; Spanish strongly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA, master’s degree, CFA, CPA, or other advanced professional qualification preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build credibility with internal and external stakeholders.

- Deep knowledge of, and strong interest in, the Brazilian Energy, Power & Utilities sectors, with a desire to continue expanding expertise across related corporate and project finance subsectors.
- A strong professional background in capital markets and/or credit analysis, supported by well-developed financial statement analysis and credit assessment skills.
- Demonstrated interest in deepening exposure to and understanding of the debt capital markets, particularly as they relate to Latin American issuers and infrastructure assets.
- A clear pattern of leadership, with the ability to proactively and effectively engage with a wide range of stakeholders, both internally and externally.
- Presence, judgment, and communication skills to represent Fitch credibly with issuer management teams, investors, bankers, and market participants.
- A collaborative mindset and a strong commitment to mentoring junior analysts and contributing to the development of the broader team.
