About the Team

The APAC Structured Finance ratings team covers approximately 800 credits across RMBS, ABS, CMBS, Covered Bonds, Structured Credit, and Digital Securitization transactions across the region. The team is based across Japan, China, Korea, Hong Kong, and Australia, working collaboratively on transactions throughout APAC. This is an exciting time to join the team as significant growth in private credit is driving the increased adoption of structured finance technologies across the region, particularly within the rapidly expanding digital securitization sector.

The successful candidate will take a leading role in analyzing complex and innovative structured finance transactions originated in Japan, while also contributing to Fitch’s research, market outreach, and engagement with issuers, arrangers, and investors. The role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge structured finance, covered bond, and structured credit transactions as part of a growing credit team in an evolving and fast-growing market. While the primary focus will be on Japanese-originated assets, the position has a strong global dimension, providing significant exposure to international markets and close interaction with senior analytical professionals across regions and asset classes. With high visibility across the organization and excellent career development potential, this role offers a unique opportunity to help shape Fitch’s presence in the APAC structured finance market.

How You’ll Make an Impact:

  • Lead the analysis and rating of new structured finance transactions, with a particular focus on complex and innovative assets, including digital finance and esoteric securitizations.
  • Evaluate transaction structures, contribute to rating criteria development, and help shape Fitch’s approach to emerging sectors and asset classes.
  • Produce research, market insights, and credit commentary on key trends impacting the structured finance and private credit markets.
  • Analyze financial, operational, and legal information to support ratings, credit opinions, and published research.
  • Collaborate with analytical teams globally to develop rating approaches and ensure consistent execution across transactions.
  • Represent Fitch externally through conferences, client meetings, webinars, media engagement, and industry events, helping to strengthen Fitch’s market presence and reputation.
  • Build strong relationships with market participants and internal stakeholders across regions and asset classes.
  • Mentor and support the development of junior analysts across Japan and the broader APAC structured finance team.

You May Be a Good Fit If:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong experience in structured finance, securitization, capital markets, private credit, infrastructure finance, or a related area, ideally with exposure to the Japanese market.
  • Deep understanding of Japanese asset classes, market structures, and investor dynamics.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to assess and communicate complex credit risks.
  • Intellectual curiosity and a proactive approach to learning and problem-solving.
  • Credibility and confidence when engaging with senior market participants and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in both Japanese and English.
  • Collaborative, commercially minded, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

What Would Make You Stand Out:

  • Strong experience in Japanese structured finance, including ABS, RMBS, CMBS, CLOs, and other securitized products.
  • Deep understanding of Japan’s private credit market and evolving investor landscape.
  • Established relationships with issuers, investors, arrangers, banks, and other market participants in Japan.
  • Experience in credit ratings, credit analysis, structuring, origination, or market strategy.
  • Ability to challenge conventional thinking and contribute to innovative approaches for complex credits and sectors.
  • Proven track record of representing an organization externally and influencing senior stakeholders.
  • Prior people management experience and a demonstrated commitment to developing talent.
